Sanctioned by the Lone Star BBQ Society, the event includes a silent and live auction, fireworks at sundown on Friday, as well as cooking competitions both days. The 5-acre corn maze was created in the shape of an old steam locomotive to honor the early days of Tomball as a railroad hub and center of commerce in north Harris County. Co-owner and general manager Bob Milner will begin the program, and state Rep. Mark Keough, R-The Woodlands, will be the guest speaker. The Conroe High School Army JROTC Color Guard will present a flag ceremony, and American Legion Post 305 Commander Victoria Glover will conduct the prayer and invocation. 9 a.m. Free. Thousands of people visit the festival each year. Each weekend in October and November, festival attendees dress up and explore the Renaissance-themed park. The festival features food and drink vendors, live entertainment and more than 400 shops. Entertainment options include parades, jousting and theatrical performances. Shops sell a variety of medieval goods, including glasswork, leatherwork, potions and musical instruments. Each Saturday night, the festival hosts the adults-only TRF After Dark, a costume gala with dancing and food.
