Four Lake Houston area high school football teams are heading to the University Interscholastic League state championship playoffs, which starts Friday. Atascocita, Kingwood, Porter and New Caney high school teams will take the field Friday and Saturday and attempt to advance to the second round of postseason play.

Humble ISD teams


The Atascocita Eagles (8-1) will face the Deer Park Deer (8-3) Friday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. at Clyde Abshier Stadium, 710 W. San Augustine, Deer Park. The Eagles finished second in the District 21-6A standings behind traditional frontrunner North Shore. The Eagles' senior quarterback Daveon Boyd led the district in passing with 1758 yards, 18 touchdowns and only 3 interceptions, according to District 21-6A Statistician Maury Salinger.  

The Kingwood Mustangs (5-5) will take on the South Houston Trojans (3-7) Friday at 7 p.m. at Turner Stadium, 1700 Wilson Road, Humble. The Mustangs are 4-2 this season at Turner Stadium, according to Maxpreps.com

New Caney ISD teams


After securing a District 21-5A crown, the New Caney Eagles (8-2) face Beaumont Central (5-5) Saturday at 6 p.m. at Turner Stadium, 1700 Wilson Road, Humble.

The Porter Spartans (7-2) take on the the Port Arthur Memorial Titans (8-1) Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Texan Drive Stadium,21360 Valley Ranch Parkway, Porter.
