With all 40 precincts reporting, incumbent Ed Thompson has held onto his seat for Texas House District 29. Thompson defeated challenger John T. Floyd, grabbing 44,632 votes to Floyd's 28,434 votes.

"It has been a long and challenging race, and I am eager for the privilege to serve you for another term. The people of House District 29 have chosen results over rhetoric. The 85th Legislative Session begins on January 11th, and I am looking forward to serving you for a third term in the Texas House of Representatives.”

With 69,046 votes tallied in the Texas House District 29 race, incumbent Ed Thompson has emerged as the likely winner over challenger John T. Floyd. Thompson has garnered 42,176 votes to take 61.1 percent of the total. Floyd has received 26,870 votes. Only 33 of 39 voting centers have currently reported their final results to the Brazoria County Clerk. Representatives of Thompson we not ready to declare victory in the race. All results are unofficial until canvased.

Thompson takes early lead in Texas House 29 race

With early voting numbers reported in Brazoria County, incumbent Ed Thompson, R-Pearland, has jumped out to a lead on challenger John T. Floyd for the Texas House District 29 race. Thompson garnered 61.33 percent of the vote, while Floyd grabbed 38.67 percent. All results are unofficial until canvased.

Candidates for Texas House District 29 have hit the campaign trail in the waning hours of Election Day.

Democratic candidate John T. Floyd visited Cross Roads Community Church on Monday night, while incumbent Ed Thompson, R-Pearland, snapped a photo with a student from Turner College and Career High School this morning.

Texas House District 29 includes the cities of Pearland, Manvel, Liverpool and Alvin.
