Thompson grabs commanding lead in Texas House 29 race
Updated 10:20 p.m. With 69,046 votes tallied in the Texas House District 29 race, incumbent Ed Thompson has emerged as the likely winner over challenger John T. Floyd. Thompson has garnered 42,176 votes to take 61.1 percent of the total. Floyd has received 26,870 votes. Only 33 of 39 voting centers have currently reported their final results to the Brazoria County Clerk. Representatives of Thompson we not ready to declare victory in the race. Candidates for Texas House District 29 have hit the campaign trail in the waning hours of Election Day. Democratic candidate John T. Floyd visited Cross Roads Community Church on Monday night, while incumbent Ed Thompson, R-Pearland, snapped a photo with a student from Turner College and Career High School this morning.
