1. Election Day is Tuesday. Early voters came out in record numbers across the Greater Houston area in the two weeks leading up to the election; more than 130,000 voters turned out in Montgomery County and nearly 1 million Harris County residents voted early. See

2. The YMCA of Greater Houston and Humble ISD break ground on an Adaptive Sports Complex in Atascocita near the intersection of West Lake Houston Parkway and Madera Run Parkway on Thursday. The $4.8 million facility will cater to students with special needs with two fields designed to accommodate wheelchairs and walkers. The sports complex is located next to Humble ISD’s yet-to-be-named Elementary School No. 28 in The Groves and will be used by Humble ISD students. The project is funded by Humble ISD,Humble Independent School District Education Foundation, the YMCA and private donors, such as Insperity.
3. The trial for three members of Montgomery County Commissioners Court starts Monday. The trial is expected to last about one week. County Judge Craig Doyal, Precinct 2 Commissioner Charlie Riley and Precinct 4 Commissioner Jim Clark
were indicted by a Montgomery County grand jury June 24 on Texas Open Meetings Act violation charges. Political consultant Marc Davenport, who previously worked on campaigns for Doyal and Riley, was indicted as well. The charges stem from negotiations regarding the county’s road bond election in November 2015.

4. Veteran’s Day is Friday, Nov. 11 and Harris County has planned a
Tribute to Veterans Wednesday, Nov. 9 at Humble Civic Center for veterans and their spouses. The event will include dinner, a presentation of flags by the Atascocita High School Junior ROTC and a concert by the Texas Master Chorale, a mixed choral ensemble of 100 singers. County buses depart the Kingwood Area at 5 p.m. from Kingwood Community Center, 4102 Rustic Woods Drive, Kingwood.
