Here are 4things to know this week if you live in The Woodlands area.
1. Election Day is Tuesday. Early voters came out in record numbers across the Greater Houston area in the two weeks leading up to the election; more than 130,000 voters turned out in Montgomery County and nearly 1 million Harris County residents voted early. In The Woodlands, voters can cast their ballot for four open seats on the township’s board of directors. See
www.communityimpact.com/vote before heading to the polls Tuesday and in the evening for election results.
2. A $25,000 project to improve mobility along the Rayford-Sawdust road corridor is underway and expected to be complete by mid-November. The Montgomery County Precinct 3 project will create access management lanes on Sawdust Road between Grogans Mill Road and Borough Park Drive through the installation of medians.
3. Cinephiles, rejoice. A new film festival will debut in February in The Woodlands. Inspire Film Festival will take place Feb. 23-26 along The Woodlands Waterway and Market Street. The event will showcase 10 feature-length films and seven short films all based on true stories. Passes are set to go on sale in December at
www.inspirefilmfest.com.
4. Interested in celebrating Veterans Day this year? A joint service at 7 p.m. on Friday held by Lord of Life Lutheran and Trinity Episcopal churches in The Woodlands is open to the community and includes photos taken for all veterans, echo taps, food and music following the service. The guest speaker is a Chaplain who was wounded in Iraq in 2005. The event is free, but donations are accepted. The event will be held at Lord of Life, 3801 S. Panther Creek Drive, The Woodlands.
