Sugar Land residents and visitors can expect lane closures at Sugar Land Town Square now until Nov. 15 as the city prepares to install hike and bicycle pedestrian paths.
Until then, one southbound lane of Town Center Boulevard will be closed 7 a.m.-6 p.m. The city advised residents to avoid the area during closures and expect traffic delays. Travel time data can be found on the city’s website.
Doug Adolph, Sugar Land assistant director of communications, said the work is part of a larger plan to create pedestrian and biking pathways around Sugar Land Town Square, Hwy. 6 and Hwy. 59.
Along Hwy. 6 and south of Hwy. 59, 2,700 feet of sidewalks will be installed to the City Plaza Condos,
Community Impact Newspaper reported in October. An 8-foot-wide path along Austin Parkway from Lexington Boulevard to a ditch and a crosswalk from City Hall to the Market at Town Square will also be installed.
That project is expected to open in March and will cost $984,197.60 from the city’s capital improvement program.
