1. Parker Road repairs


Daily lane closures are taking place as repairs are being made along Parker Road between Coit and Mission Ridge roads in a project to repair eastbound and westbound lanes from Coit to Custer roads. This repair project also includes similar repairs along Plano Parkway from Los Rios Boulevard to Jupiter Road, which will begin once the repairs along Parker Road are complete.


Timeline: June 2016-Jan. 2017

2. President George Bush Turnpike widening project


The paving of an additional lane on the President George Bush Turnpike between the Dallas North Tollway and US 75 is complete. Crews are now constructing new traffic barriers, restriping the lanes and placing sod in the median. The new fourth lane will be open to drivers by the end of the year, weather permitting. Once open, crews will construct additional lanes between I-30 and the DNT and between US 75 to SH 78. Construction for each section will take place in the existing median.


Timeline: May 2015-mid-2021
Cost: $175 million
Funding sources: North Texas Tollway Authority



3. Preston Road corridor improvements


Corridor improvement projects at five intersections along Preston Road are almost complete. Miscellaneous work remains, including cleanup, striping and pedestrian improvements. This project added double left- and right-turn lanes along Preston at Parker roads, Spring Creek Parkway, Hedgcoxe Road, Headquarters Drive and Tennyson Parkway. Drivers can expect temporary lane closures and delays during the day for this work.

Cost: $5.4 million

4. Plano Parkway/Los Rios intersection improvements


Construction crews are finishing utility relocations at several intersections to prepare for various improvement projects. However, construction cannot resume until the franchise utility companies relocate their facilities. Dedicated right- and left-turn lanes will be added to the intersections of Los Rios Boulevard and 14th Street; Los Rios Boulevard and Plano Parkway; Plano Parkway and Shiloh Road; and Hedgcoxe and Coit roads. These projects may take place at the same time or may be staggered depending on the contractor’s schedule.

Cost: $3.1 million

5. Independence Parkway repairs


The project to repair concrete along Independence Parkway is on schedule and is expected to be complete in January. Daily lane closures will continue to take place from  Plano Parkway to West 15th Street and from  Cross Bend to Parker roads. Construction crews will meet in the middle between 15th Street and West Parker Road, where a new, more flexible type of ultrathin asphalt will be applied to extend the life of the roadway.

Cost: $4.3 million

6. Legacy Drive U-turn and pedestrian bridge project


The city of Plano is constructing an additional U-turn bridge on the north side of Legacy Drive at the Dallas North Tollway in conjunction with the NTTA’s widening project along the DNT. The bridge structure will be added before the widening project concludes in early 2018. The city of Plano will then convert the existing U-turn lane into a pedestrian walkway. NTTA is constructing improvements for this project as part of the overall DNT widening project. Drivers can expect intermittent lane closures during construction.
