Major projects in the Conroe | Montgomery area October 2016 

1. FM 1097 widening

The Texas Department of Transportation broke ground in July on an FM 1097 expansion project between I-45 and Hwy. 75 in Willis. The project will expand the roadway from two to four lanes and add a continuous left-turn lane. Construction should take 11 months to complete, officials said.

2. FM 3083 expansion

Work on the expansion of FM 3083 in Conroe continues with construction of a railroad overpass over the Union Pacific Railroad tracks. The project will continue to widen the road from Hwy. 75 to FM 1484. Once complete, the road will have two lanes on each side and a continuous left-turn lane.

 3. I-45 HOV lanes

TxDOT crews have completed work on the southbound high occupancy vehicle lane on I-45 from South Loop 336 in Conroe to FM 1960 in north Harris County. The lane opened Oct. 17. The agency has not released a timeline for completion of the northbound HOV lane.

4. League Line Road extension

Construction of a 2.5-mile extension to League Line Road in Conroe has been completed, and the road was opened to the public Oct. 17. The project extends the road from Frazier Street past FM 1484, creating a direct route from I-45 through the Conroe Park North industrial park to Conroe-North Houston Regional Airport.

5. Westside Loop addition

Construction continues on a new roadway that will connect FM 1097 to Old Montgomery Road near I-45 in Willis. TxDOT crews will also install a traffic signal at the new FM 1097 intersection. The roadway makes it possible for TxDOT crews to convert the I-45 southbound feeder road at the FM 1097 intersection into a one-way road. Willis City Council voted to name the roadway the Westside Loop during its Oct. 18 meeting.
