5 things to know from the Montgomery County Commissioners Court meeting, Oct. 25
- Commissioners voted to move forward with the sale of its second series of Montgomery County road bond funds. The $280 million road bond was approved by Montgomery County voters in November 2015. The county has previously sold $60 million in bond debt. The second series of sales will not exceed $100 million.
- The court approved a change in polling location for the Nov. 8 election for residents that reside in voting precinct 36 in Conroe. The polling location was previously located at the Bennette Estates Fire Station No. 84 at 15038 Calhoun Road, Conroe. The new polling location is located at the Allendale Baptist Church at 14535 Allendale Lane, Conroe.
- The court is considering the use of labor from inmates from the county jail at the Montgomery County Animal Shelter. Specific information about the jobs inmates may be able to participate in were not discussed.
Montgomery County took over management of the animal shelter last fall after terminating a contract with Care Corporation due to concerns over poor conditions at the facility off Hwy. 242.[/caption]
- Commissioners approved the creation of three new positions at the Montgomery County Animal Shelter. The positions include maintenance technician, veterinary technician and clinic technician. Combined, the new positions will cost about $104,000.
- The court continues to encourage a new euthanasia policy for the Montgomery County Animal Shelter. Specific policies about were not discussed.
