Why are you running?
I am running for re-election in order to fulfill the completion of the many initiatives that my fellow council members and I have set in motion. Some of those projects are bond propositions for a new municipal facility and library complex, public safety facility, parkland and trails, drainage control and street improvements. I am committed to representing the citizens of Buda and feel I am best qualified and experienced to carry out the expectations of the citizens as the city of Buda, council member [for] Place 2.
What do you see as the biggest challenge facing Buda?
The biggest challenge facing the City of Buda, is no different than any city that is in a fast growing corridor, such as Austin to San Antonio. It is always the goal to be ahead of the growth impact to the city's infrastructure. Adequate water supply, water treatment capacity, transportation options and safety for the citizens are all paramount and essential to providing high quality of life for the citizens. Why do you feel you are the most qualified candidate? I feel I am the best qualified candidate for City Council, Place 2 because I bring a high degree of experience and knowledge of the issues confronting the city and what actions that need to be implemented. The experience includes the participation in structuring and obtaining approval of annual budgets for the past four annual reporting periods, as well as contributing to the implementation of a multimillion dollar bond issue that will provide enormous city benefits and improved services. These efforts have resulted in maintaining the lowest tax rate in the region. Additionally, I have served in professional executive management positions with the state, large city and county government. My education includes a bachelor's degree and MBA in business management. What is your top priority when it comes to infrastructure? Adequate water supply, water treatment capacity, transportation options and safety for the citizens are all paramount and essential to providing high quality of life for the citizens.How do you think Buda should adapt for growth while still retaining its character?
This question has been before the city for many years. Fortunately, through careful planning a very detailed plan for the growth and the future in maintaining its character has been established. The city of Buda Comprehensive Plan addresses many aspects regarding policy decisions, growth and change. The document focuses on a long-range plan the encompasses from a transportation master plan to a downtown master plan with a vision of how the city grows over the next 10-20 years how the growth should be managed.
