Carly Christopher, a 2009 Southwestern University graduate, local actress and philanthropist, and her husband, Clayton, co-founder of Sweet Leaf Tea and Deep Eddy Vodka spoke to Southwestern University students on Friday as part of the institutions Thinking Symposium.
SU President Edward Burger hosted the event, which supplements his effective thinking and creative puzzle-solving course.
The couple spoke about mindfulness, working effectively with others, how they make their relationship work and giving back.
Clayton touched on the idea of "being a forever student" throughout your life, while Carly focused on finding your passion.
Friday's lecture was a part of a larger six-part series that will take place throughout the semester. Guests speakers will share puzzles in their professionals lives, how they resolve issues and their experiences with students and the public. Burger said students and public attendants are encouraged to ask questions.
Other guest speakers include other Southwestern graduates, including Jessica Waldrop McCay who was recently named as one of Cosmopolitan's "15 Women Who Are Totally Dominating The Tech Industry,”and Juilliard-trained baritone performer Weston Hurt.
