Saturday Oct. 15: This is Kingwood festival

Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 15-16: Texas Renaissance Festival

This weekend’s theme is 1001 Dreams, featuring wizards, elves and faeries. Take part in the fantasy costume contest or the dragon wing-eating contest. Thousands of people visit the festival each year. Each weekend in October and November, festival attendees dress up and explore the Renaissance-themed park. The festival features food and drink vendors, live entertainment and more than 400 shops. Entertainment options include parades, jousting and theatrical performances. Shops sell a variety of medieval goods, including glasswork, leatherwork, potions and musical instruments. Each Saturday night, the festival hosts the adults-only TRF After Dark, a costume gala with dancing and food. 9 a.m.-8 p.m. $26 (adult), $14 (child). Sunday Oct. 16: Fall Car Show

The annual car show features over 100 cars from classics to muscle trucks. This is a judged event, and has food vendors and jumping castles for children. Personal ice chests are allowed.
