Annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day
The City of Leander, Williamson County and Waste Management host this countywide collection of household hazardous waste products twice per year. The event is open to all Williamson County residents, though residents should bring proof of county residency through an official form, such as a driver's license or billing statement. 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Free. Accepted items:
- Household cleaning products—oven/drain cleaners, wood/metal cleaners and polishes, bathroom cleaners, and pool chemicals
- Indoor pesticides—bug sprays and baits, flea and tick repellents, houseplant insecticides, moth repellents, mouse and rat poison
- Automotive products—motor oil, fuel additives, carburetor and fuel injection cleaners, starter fluids, automotive batteries, transmission and brake fluids, antifreeze/coolant
- Workshop/painting supplies—adhesives and glue, furniture strippers, oil or enamel based paints, stains and finishes, paint thinners and turpentine, paint strippers
- Lawn and garden products—herbicides and insecticides
- Flammable products—kerosene, diesel fuel, gas/oil mix, lighter fluid
- Miscellaneous—household batteries, mercury, thermostats or thermometers, fluorescent light bulbs, electronic waste
Unacceptable items:
- Agricultural chemicals—dioxins-containers larger than 5 gallons
- Explosives—fireworks, ammunition
- Industrial or commercial or business waste
- Propane cylinders of any kind, compressed gasses
- Medical and pharmaceutical waste
- Radioactive materials
- Tires
- Material containing asbestos
- Household trash
- Vegetation/brush, wood products
- Televisions, computer monitors
Guidelines for dropping off items:
- If possible, bring products in their original containers
- Do not mix or consolidate products
- Separate and group your items prior to drop-off and label them
- Let volunteers help you unload your items
- Go through the line only one time
- No trailers longer than 16 feet
- Haul containers in trunk or back of vehicle, away from passengers
- Properly seal containers to prevent leaking

Hounds for Heroes Fair & Motorcycle Run
The third annual benefit, bike run and barbecue dinner raises funds for Hounds for Heroes, which rescues, trains and provides service dogs for veterans in the community. The event includes barbecue, craft beer, live music, vendor booths, a silent auction, children’s games and a parent and pet look-a-like contest. Wellbehaved dogs are allowed on a leash. 2-7 p.m. Free (admission), barbecue plates sold to benefit the Hounds for Heroes program. Austin Dog Alliance, 1321 W. Chicken Run 1K and 5K
The Stiles Middle School Band at Florence Stiles Middle School hosts the second annual event. Funds raised go toward the program by helping pay for new instruments, travel expenses to contests and performances, new sheet music and other band supplies. 7:30 a.m. (1K), 8 a.m. (5K). $25-$35. Taste of Cedar Park
For the third year guests are invited to try beer, food and wine from local restaurants and breweries and listen to live music. The event is held rain or shine, and attendees must be age 21 or older. The Cedar Park Chamber of Commerce and the city of Cedar Park host the event, and Cedar Park Regional Medical Center is a sponsor. Other sponsorship opportunities are available. 6-9 p.m. $40. Cedar Bark Festival
Guests may bring their dogs to the park. Donations for the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter are encouraged and may include canned or grain-free pet food, bedding and blankets. Used toys, collars or leashes are not accepted. Proceeds benefit Friends of Cedar Bark Park. Food concessions, vendors and entertainment are also available. Noon-3 p.m. Free (to attend).
