The I-45 high-occupancy vehicle lane extension project will add two 17.6-mile lanes, one northbound and one southbound, along I-45 from South Loop 336 in Conroe to FM 1960 in north Harris County. The southbound HOV lane was supposed to open Sept. 15, however inclement weather delayed the lane striping, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. The southbound lane opening has been backdated to late October, and there is no projected opening date for the northbound HOV lane as of press time. 2. Kuykendahl Road bridge

A dual bridge will be built along Kuykendahl Road over Spring Creek in an effort to mitigate traffic congestion between Montgomery and Harris counties. The project bid was awarded to the successful low bidder, Texas Sterling Construction Co., on June 30, and the notice to proceed was issued Sept. 26. The contract allows 270 days for installation. Timeline: late September 2016-June 2017 Cost: $6 million Funding sources: Woodlands Road Utility District, Montgomery County, Harris County

This Montgomery County Precinct 3 project will add right- and left-turn lanes at the intersection of Branch Crossing and Terramont drives as well as a new traffic signal and flashing yellow arrow. The lane paving and striping was completed in late September, and construction on the traffic signal is expected to be complete in November, weather permitting. Timeline: August-November 2016 Cost: $250,000 Funding sources: Montgomery County Precinct 3

4. David Memorial Drive extension

This Shenandoah Municipal Development District project will extend David Memorial Drive from Shenandoah Park Drive to Hwy. 242. Shenandoah City Council unanimously awarded a contract bid Sept. 28 to begin Phase 1 of this project as well as a bid for wetland mitigation on the construction site. Phase 1 is expected to be complete by next summer, however there is no projected timeline for the remaining phases. Upon completion, the project is expected to improve mobility east of I-45 by providing a north-south connector without having to travel by I-45 or its frontage road. Timeline: fall 2016-June 2017 (Phase 1) Cost: $2.3 million Funding sources: Shenandoah Municipal Development District

5. Rayford Road improvements

This Montgomery County Precinct 3 road bond project will widen Rayford Road from four lanes to six between Lazy Lane and the Grand Parkway. In addition, an overpass will be constructed over the Union Pacific Corp. railroad tracks. The project is in the civil design phase and in the process of acquiring right of way and utility coordination. Upon completion, the project is expected to improve east-west traffic flow and safety along the Rayford corridor. Timeline: 2017-late 2019 Cost: $60 million Funding sources: Montgomery County Precinct 3

Robinson Road/Woodlands Parkway and I-45

6. Robinson Road/Woodlands Parkway and I-45

This TxDOT project would convert the intersection of I-45 and Robinson Road/Woodlands Parkway into a diamond interchange including frontage road U-turn lanes. A representative of Brown & Gay Engineers gave a presentation of the proposal to the Oak Ridge North City Council Sept. 26. The project is in the study phase and is expected to improve traffic flow upon completion. Timeline: TBD Cost: $3 million Funding sources: TxDOT
