This is the last day to register to vote in the Nov. 8 general election. Registration information is available on both the Travis County and Williamson County websites.

Leander City Council will meet at 7 p.m. at Pat Bryson Municipal Hall, 201 N. Brushy St., Leander. Agenda items include adoption of the Five-Year Capital Improvement Plan and acquisition of a right of way necessary for completing the realignment of Bagdad Road. The council will also recognize police Chief Greg Minton, who was named Citizen of the Year by the Greater Leander Chamber of Commerce; fire Chief Bill Gardner, who was named Firefighter of the Year by the Central Texas Firemen’s and Fire Marshals’ Association; and the Leander Police Department, which was given the 2016 Texas Municipal League Municipal Excellence Award.

The Austin Film Festival starts tonight with a fundraiser at the Driskill Hotel in downtown Austin. Film fans can catch film screenings at locations across Austin throughout the remainder of the week and the weekend.

Cedar Park City Council will meet in closed session at 6 p.m. in City Council Chambers at 450 Cypress Creed Road, Bldg. 4, Cedar Park. At 7 p.m., the meeting will open to the public. An agenda will be posted on the city's website in advance of the meeting.
