Collin County Commissioners meet today at 1:30 p.m.


The Collin County Commissioners Court meeting will take place today at 1:30 p.m. in the Jack Hatchell Administration Building, 2300 Bloomdale Road, McKinney. Today's discussion will include a request from the sheriff's office for private grant funds for an updated communications system for county officers. Commissioners will also discuss the county's hazard mitigation action plan. The plan includes mitigation goals and actions to reduce or eliminate long-term risk to people and property in Collin County from future hazards and disasters. For more info, click here.

McKinney Planning and Zoning Commission meets tomorrow at 6 p.m.


The McKinney Planning and Zoning Commission will meet at 6 p.m. tomorrow at City Hall, 222 N. Tennessee St., McKinney. The commission will discuss a request for a specific use permit and site plan for a wholesale retail and tire service center and fuel sales for the Costco to be constructed at the northeast corner of US 380 and Hardin Boulevard. A facade plan appeal for the fuel sales facility will also be discussed. A public hearing will take place for a site plan for a proposed multi-family development on the northeast corner of McKinney Place Drive and SH 121. Other items up for discussion include a specific use permit for a drive-thru restaurant on the northwest corner of Collin McKinney Parkway and Lake Forest Drive and a site plan for two office/warehouse buildings at the northwest corner of Redbud Boulevard and Central Circle, as well as a replat for 10 single-family residential lots at the northeast corner of Walker and Tennessee streets. Coffee with the cops Wednesday morning 


Spoons Cafe,100 E. Louisiana St. McKinney, will host the city's Coffee with the Cops event from 10 a.m.-noon on Wednesday. The McKinney Police Department invites residents for casual conversation over a cup of coffee. The event allows community members to ask questions and learn more about the police department. All community members are invited to attend. For more info, click here.

Outdoor Movie Night at the McKinney Community Center


"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" (PG-13) will be featured during this week's Outdoor Movie Night at the McKinney Community Center, 2001 S. Central Expressway. The free event begins at 7 p.m. and guests are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs. Pre-registration is preferred and those wanting to attend can call or visit the McKinney Community Center or register online. Parents must attend with minors and free drinks and popcorn provided.
