1. University Boulevard North extension
Crews are extending University Boulevard North approximately 1,000 feet from Union Pacific Railroad to connect to Stadium Drive in Sugar Land. The project includes the relocation of Union Pacific Railroad’s single track that leads to Nalco Champion. Roadway and rail improvements being constructed by the city of Sugar Land were not complete by late September. Once Union Pacific Railroad’s work is complete, the city’s contractors will begin final roadway connections to the rail crossing.

LJ Parkway lowering[/caption]2. LJ Parkway lowering
Fort Bend County and Levee Improvement District No. 19 are lowering LJ Parkway in Sugar Land from University Boulevard to Hagerson Road. The road has a visibility issue for drivers turning from LJ Parkway onto Hagerson Road. The contractor has demolished, lowered and re-poured the southbound lanes of LJ Parkway. Work on the re-grading and lowering of the median and backfilling behind the new curb is underway. Afterward, traffic will be detoured to the southbound side of the road, and crews will start the demolition and lowering of the northbound lanes. Construction is expected to last until the end of September.

3. Grand Parkway Segment C-1
Construction of the first portion of the Grand Parkway Segment C is expected to be completed this fall. Segment C-1 is a three-quarter-mile feeder road of three southbound lanes, which will serve as an expansion of Crabb River Road. Along with Segment C-1, Crabb River Road’s existing lanes will be northbound. The road is ready for crews to begin paving, and the installation of a traffic signal at Sansbury Boulevard is underway. Once the signal is operational, traffic will be able to flow along the road. The Segment C-1 work is anticipated to finish in November before Thanksgiving. Segment C is a 26-mile portion of the Grand Parkway planned to span from Hwy. 59 in the north to Hwy. 288 in the south.

4. Fort Bend Parkway Toll Road Overpass
An overpass bridge on the Fort Bend Parkway Toll Road from Trammel-Fresno to Knight Roads will cross Hwy. 6 in Missouri City. The project is being funded by toll revenue generated on the toll road. In September, crews worked to finish four or five columns and their caps that are part of the bridge’s substructure. Afterward, work on the bridge deck, moving northward from Hwy. 6 to Trammel-Fresno Road, can commence.

5. Gregory Boulevard
Pavement reconstruction is progressing along the roadway from Fondren Road to McLain Boulevard. The city of Missouri City is contributing $3.3 million to the project. In September, the contractor worked on the eastbound lanes and expected to be complete in October. Once the eastbound lanes are completed, work will begin on the westbound lanes. Roadway construction is scheduled to end in spring 2017.
