Construction on Oak Ridge Young Learners Academy at 25511 Richards Road, Spring, is slated to begin by the end of November and be finished by fall 2017.

The private preschool will accept students from six weeks old through pre-kindergarten. Before and after school care will also be offered for children up to age 12, said Deborah Kaschik, director of curriculum and part owner at the Young Learners G

roup.

“We are locally owned and operated,” Kaschik said. “There are three of us that are owners and we are involved in all the daily activities.”

Children at Oak Ridge Young Learners Academy will have library time, gym class, access to the computer lab and music class.

“My background is in gifted and talented education, and I taught in [Conroe] ISD for 13 years,” Kaschik said. “This is my 31st year in education. I am at the [Young Learners] campus at least a couple of days a week working, interacting with the teachers, kids and parents.”

A clinic for children with autism will also be housed at the Oak Ridge Young Learners Academy, Kaschik said. Services through the clinic include therapy, diagnostic services, shadow services and social skills groups.

With the addition of the Oak Ridge location, there will be three Young Learners Academies in the Greater Houston area, including The Woodlands Young Learners Academy and Linder Young Learners Academy.
