From now until the end of the month, shoppers can donate new and gently used shoes at Grapevine Mills for a good cause as the mall has partnered with Soles4Souls, a global nonprofit committed to fighting poverty through the collection and distribution of shoes and clothing. Donations can be dropped in the large Simon shoe box that can be be found near guest services. This collaboration is in tandem with Grapevine Mills’ mall-wide September shoe promotion—‘For the Love of Shoes’—featuring exclusive discounts and savings on hundreds of styles and brands of footwear for every age and every occasion from participating retailers. Connor’s Car Show takes place Sept. 24 at Kimball Oaks Shopping Center, 2241 E. Southlake Blvd., Southlake. Trucks, motorcycles and classic cars will be on display for public viewing and judging. McKinney’s Oktoberfest starts Sept. 23 at 4 p.m. in Downtown McKinney, 111 N. Tennessee St. The event features German music, a 14-block beer garden, food and beverages, dancing, clothing and children’s activities. Plano Balloon Festival kicks off this weekend at Oak Point Park, 2801 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano, featuring 45 colorful hot air balloons, live music, food vendors, skydivers, fireworks and a kids zone. The event is $5 per person each day and free for kids under 36 inches tall.
