Junkin Gypsies mixes painting, Pinterest and pallets in Tomball Junkin Gypsies in Tomball offers hands-on pallet painting workshops.[/caption] Brooke Manning opened Junkin Gypsies on Sept. 17 at 16807 FM 2920, Ste. B, Tomball. Customers can choose any design—from Bible verses to pictures and other words—to put on a pallet, Manning said. “We design the art for it and cut [the design] out with adhesive vinyl, and then [the customers] stencil whatever design they want on there," she said. “You [make] good memories while you create in the process.” Wooden door hangers and other products are also available for customers to paint. Manning said the Tomball location is an offshoot of the original Junkin Gypsies in Nederland, Texas, which was inspired by Pinterest. “It was a lot of women getting together on the weekends to do Pinterest projects, and the original owner just decided this was a good idea, so she decided to create a space for women to come in," Manning said. "We have all the materials [here]." Manning said she encourages customers to bring wine, snacks and friends. As children under 16 are not allowed—except during special celebrations, such as birthday parties—Junkin Gypsies intends to give ladies a night out, Manning said. She said most of her customers are women. However, men are also welcome. “It’s become a wonderful place for people to come in and fellowship with their friends or loved ones," Manning said. The studio hosts workshops and group parties, but registration is required. 832-978-6330. www.junkingypsiestomball.com
