The city of Humble is designing the expansion of the north-south segment of Townsen Boulevard West. The final two-lane portion of the roadway will be expanded to four lanes between the northern entrance of the Walmart Supercenter and where the road bends west toward Hwy. 59.
The $4.3 million project will be funded by the city of Humble. It was authorized in the 2016-17 budget, which was approved in September. No timetable has been set for its completion, said Humble City Manager Darrell Boeske.
"We're [going to] add two lanes north and south on West Townsen Boulevard," Boeske said. "That'll be four lanes all the way from Costco to Walmart from FM 1960 to Hwy. 59."
This transportation project is part of $19 million in capital projects, which includes a $1.2 million for a new senior activities building and more than $6 million for the 2016 Concrete Pavement Improvement Project.
