A project aimed at improving the stability of a 200-foot stretch of Wildcat Hollow is now underway in West Lake Hills.
The project is estimated to cost $130,000 and will address an erosion issue—where water has washed out the dirt around a portion of the local road, said Robert Wood, West Lake Hills city administrator. The city has been monitoring the situation “for some time,” and Wood said the project should improve stability long term.
“It’s an important project, but one that will only affect the people who live on that road,” he said.
The project’s details include digging down into the road to replace a small drainage pipe with a much larger drainage culvert, Wood said. After installation, the road will be repaired and a small retaining wall will be built, he said.
The contract allows 60 days for the contractor to complete the project, Wood said. However, he said the contractor anticipates the work will be completed closer to 30 days.
