Ride On Center for Kids hosted several summer camps throughout July.
The camps allowed children with special needs as well as children of veterans to participate in horseriding and other activities at the center, which is located at 2050 Rockride Lane.
ROCK founder and CEO Nancy Krenek said 45 participants and 298 volunteers were involved in the camps.
Georgetown Chamber of Commerce Bar-Bid-Cue
The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Bar-Bid-Cue auction fundraiser July 29 at Reunion Ranch.
The event featured a barbecue dinner and a silent and live auction as well as several games, including Carrots for Karats, in which participants search for a token in a piece of carrot cake to exchange for diamond earrings from Quenan’s Jewelers.
Chamber President Karen Sheldon said the event, which raised more than $30,000, is the chamber’s largest fundraiser of the year, and the money raised helps keep membership costs low and allows more businesses to participate in the organization.
