On Aug. 1, the Bee Cave Police Department began informing residents of weekly crime incidents occurring within the city’s borders.
The Facebook page—@Bee Cave Police Department, which is listed on the department’s official website—includes traffic stops, citations, warnings, incidents, arrests and collisions.
“We had a couple of requests [for the crime postings], and some residents contacted City Council members for the public information related to crime,” Police Chief Gary Miller said. “We don’t want to give exact addresses, but if something happened in some neighborhood, residents would be able to know about it.”
Although the program is in a trial period, the feedback and Facebook comments have been positive about the postings, he said.
