The city is treating the roads with a chip seal and sealant product on several streets in downtown, including Portions of Walnut and Pine streets, Southwestern Boulevard, and Haven Lane. Street sealant work along Williams Drive from DB Wood/Shell Road to Sedro Trail has been completed. Crews are scheduled to paint the road Aug. 15, and will continue to sweep areas where chip seal has been applied to remove loose rocks from the roadway, according to a city news release. The city will apply a polymer-based sealant Aug. 9-20 on Sun City Boulevard, Cool Springs Way and Pedernales Falls Drive. No chip seal will be used in Sun City, according to the news release. The posted speed limits have been lowered to 25 miles per hour in the work zones, according to the news release. City officials caution drivers to obey the posted limits to reduce the chance of flying debris. According to the news release, driving slowly and avoiding sharp turns, hard braking, and tire spinning will allow the chip seal to set.
