Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southlake, which opened in 2004 as the Southlake’s first hospital, completed its 5,300-square-foot expansion in June that includes six observation beds, bringing the hospital’s total bed count to 23.
The new addition is connected to the hospital via the family waiting area, which was enlarged and updated with new furnishings, a flat screen television, a concierge desk, a display case and a private consult room. A new emergency room nurse’s station is located next to the family waiting area.
As part of the expansion, the hospital’s technology was upgraded to enhance patient care monitoring, and an electronic tracking board in the family waiting area displays patient status.
Citing the need to meet demand for health care services in Southlake and surrounding communities, hospital President Traci Bernard said the expansion not only added much needed space but creates better efficiencies and a high quality patient, physician and employee experience.
“This project was much needed due to the growing demand for the highest quality of health care in our community," Bernard said in a news release. "Not only does it provide more space for our staff and patients, but it beautifully complements our existing facility. We are excited that our hospital is now able to provide more health care services."
