TOM-2016-07-13-1 1. FM 2920, Business 249 Improvements

The Texas Department of Transportation is repairing and overlaying portions of FM 2920 and Business 249 in Tomball. The project includes adding a continuous center turn lane in downtown and removing on-street parallel parking. To account for lost parking spaces, the city of Tomball has created three public parking lots at Elm, Cherry and Fannin streets. Construction will occur overnight from 8 p.m.-6 a.m.

2. Fagan Lane

The new Harris County road will create a thoroughfare between Cedar Lane and Telge Road that will run parallel to the Grand Parkway. The project was awarded to Lexton Construction on March 29, and construction began in late June. The project is expected to take 30 months to complete.

3. Hufsmith-Kohrville Road widening

The five-segment road widening project will expand the road from two to four concrete lanes between Spring Cypress Road and FM 2920 in Tomball. Segment 1, which widened Hufsmith-Kohrville Road from south of Spring Cypress Road to Hollow Glen Lane, was completed in late June. Segment 6 is in the design phase.

4. FM 1774 utility lines

Magnolia City Council approved the decision June 14 to apply for a 10-year loan through the TxDOT Infrastructure Fund for the relocation of utility pipes that conflict with plans for the FM 1774 overpass. Pending the approval of the loan, relocation of the utilities is expected to begin in August so construction can continue. The water, sewer, phone and fiber optics lines must be relocated for flyover construction to continue.

5. Unity Park Drive improvements

Magnolia City Council approved the repaving of Unity Park Drive from Commerce Street to Cloyd Drive in June. The project will require the grinding of the existing asphalt and improving drainage along the roadway before paving can begin.

6. Improvements at Hufsmith-Kohrville and Holderrieth roads

Designs for a traffic signal and left turn lane at the intersection of Holderrieth and Hufsmith-Kohrville roads in Tomball are being finalized by the Tomball Economic Development Corporation before they are sent to the county. Harris County expects to send the project out for bid in the fourth quarter of 2016.
