Pearland Fire Chief Vance Riley promoted three veteran staff members as the growing department focuses on hazard prevention and public safety.
Roland Garcia, Jason Jackson and Greg Bozdech will take on expanded roles with the Pearland Fire Department, city officials announced May 31.
Garcia, who will remain as emergency management coordinator, was appointed as assistant fire chief of the community risk reduction division. He will be responsible for the internal professional standards of the department. Garcia started with PFD in 2005 following 11 years at the Village Fire Department.
Jackson will serve as assistant chief of the training division. He joined PFD in 2010 after stints with fire departments in Friendswood, La Marque and Hitchcock. He was also a U.S. Navy damage control man on the U.S.S. Inchon. In his new role, Jackson will head training and professional development, health and wellness, clinical management and departmental safety programs.
Bozdech was promoted to fire marshal, where he will oversee the office in charge of fire inspections, plan reviews, arson investigations and environmental crimes. Bozdech, who began his fire service career in 1982, implemented Pearland’s accelerant canine program while serving in his previous role as deputy fire marshal.
“I know that Roland, Jason and Greg have the skills necessary to take the department to the next level with excellent service delivery,” Riley said.
