Lake Forest Drive: Road expansion1. Lake Forest Drive

The city of McKinney is adding an additional lane in each direction along Lake Forest Drive from SH 121 to McKinney Ranch Parkway. A turn lane for traffic traveling east on McKinney Ranch and turning right onto Lake Forest will be added to McKinney Ranch. A turn lane for traffic turning left from eastbound SH 121 to northbound Lake Forest will also be added. One lane on Lake Forest will be closed periodically between 9 a.m.-4 p.m. daily for lane striping. The project is nearly complete, and city officials said they are anticipating completion in early June. 2. Custer Road widening

The city of Frisco is widening Custer Road from Stonebridge Drive to SH 121. The road runs between Frisco and McKinney and sees daily traffic to and from both cities. To accommodate the growth in this area, the 3-mile project will widen the existing four-lane roadway to six lanes. Construction on this project is 30 percent complete as of mid-May and is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter this year between October and December, according to Frisco officials. Heavy traffic is expected in this area until construction is complete. Staff is coordinating with TxDOT regarding closures, detours and traffic switches along Custer, FM 423 and US 380 during the widening projects.
