A Circle K convenience store and gas station received the green light from Lakeway City Council April 18.
The council granted approval to the property owner for a special-use permit for the proposed 1.1-acre site at the northeast corner of North RR 620 and Debba Drive. The Circle K site is part of a larger 6-acre tract that is zoned for office and light-retail uses.
The project includes a 4,500-square-foot store and eight fuel pumps within a fuel canopy. Alcoholic beverages may be sold at the site with a permit.
Driveway access to the site will be constructed onto Debba, and traffic from the RR 620 access point will be limited to a right turn in and a right turn out of the site. However, the developer will be required to conduct a traffic impact analysis on the location, Deputy City Manager Chessie Zimmerman said.
Council cited a large tree on the tract that would need to be removed. Zimmerman said the developer is willing to save the other trees on the site if he is allowed to remove the large tree.
“There’s a definite absence of gas stations on that side [of RR 620] coming into town,” Council Member Dwight Haley said.
