With 21 of 21 precincts reporting, incumbent Brenda Hoppe leads with 63 percent of the vote, or 59 votes, for Magnolia City Council Position 4.

"I think it's wonderful," Hoppe said. "I’m excited and I’m looking forward to the next few years."

Hoppe said she plans to continue working to improve the city's aesthetic appearance, including the installation of new city signs along FM 1774 and FM 1488.

Following the release of early voting numbers, incumbent Brenda Hoppe is in the lead for Magnolia City Council Position 4, with 47 votes, or 68.12 percent. Jim Massey is trailing at 31.88 percent, or 22 votes.

Hoppe has been a teacher in Magnolia ISD for the last 18 years and has served on City Council since 2014. She has lived in Magnolia since 2007 and serves as a board member for the 4B Community Development Corporation. This would be her second term on the council.

Massey is a government teacher at Magnolia West High School and the Lone Star College System. He has lived in Magnolia for the past four years. In addition to coordinating food drives within Magnolia ISD, Massey is a volunteer with the Texans United for Freedom Foundation and previously served as a U.S. Marine.

Magnolia City Council members serve for two years with no set term limits.
