A public meeting has been set for April 14 by Precinct 3 Commissioner James Noack’s office to inform residents about the status of the Rayford Road expansion project.
The meeting will be held from 4-7 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church on Rayford Road and will be an open house format during which design schematics and project details will be shared. Matt Beasley, Rayford Road project manager, said representatives for the commissioner, civil engineers for the project and everyone on the project team will be there to answer questions.
“We’re expecting a good turnout,” Beasley said. “A lot of people in the area are interested in this.”
The Rayford Road project will extend from Richard Road to the Grand Parkway and expands the roadway from four to six lanes, including a bridge to by-pass the Union Pacific railroad tracks. Other improvements include installing new traffic signals, building a raised median and drainage improvements. Right of way is also needed for these improvements, and Montgomery County has been working with property owners affected by right of way purchases.
“This area has seen a lot of growth and increase in traffic and we know construction has impacts on everyone around it,” Noack said. “We are working to share project details and ensuring the community has the information they need prior to construction.”
Beasley said one more meeting is also possible in the future when the project gets closer to its final design. A project website,
www.precinct3.org/rayford, is also available where residents can sign up to receive email updates.
