Following the success of their Fall Food Fest, the Tomball Business and Professional Women are gearing up to host the seventh annual Spring Style Show on April 10 to raise money for local women pursuing higher education.
“We raise the most money for scholarships for women in the Tomball area—we’re a unique networking group for women,” TB&PW president-elect Jonetta Barnett said. “We host two fundraisers a year and hope to match or beat what we brought in last year.”
The group hopes to raise at least $20,000 to fund 10 scholarships for female seniors graduating from Tomball ISD and two scholarships for women age 27 or older hoping to continue their education. Last year, the group raised $17,500.
“We’ve helped women go to Legacy Beauty Academy and Lone Star College-Tomball and Sam Houston State University,” Barnett said. “[For women older than traditional college age,] this can help someone who might be a stay-at-home mom whose kids are of school age and needs some help trying to go back to school and finding what is available.”
The event will feature a fashion show with clothing from local boutiques and shops modeled by Tomball-area professionals, followed by a live charity auction led by Tomball Police Captain Rick Grassi.
There will also be a silent auction with items donated by local businesses, Barnett said.
“It’s always a fun event and it’s another way for people to give back to women in the community,” Barnett said.
The event will be held at the Moffit Oaks Grand Ballroom, 20125 Cedar Lane, Tomball. For more information, visit www.tbpw.net.
