Updated 1:33 p.m. to include new information

Capital Metro will offer expanded bus and rail service for the 2016 South by Southwest Conferences & Festivals on March 11-20.

Last year the city’s public transit agency saw a 15 percent increase in its MetroRapid and MetroRail ridership during SXSW. It provided 63,000 rail rides and 37,000 MetroRapid rides.

Because of President Barack Obama's keynote conversation March 11 during SXSW Interactive, Capital Metro is anticipating service delays throughout the day. Riders are encouraged to check www.capmetro.org for any announcements.

The agency’s mobile app allows riders to plan trips, find schedules, buy passes and see real-time departure information. The app is available for free in the Apple Store, Google play or Windows Phone.

For information on detoured routes 4, 17, 21, 22 and 122, visit www.capmetro.org/specialevents or call 512-474-1200.
