Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Guide

A Texas tradition for more than 80 years, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo takes place March 1-20 at NRG Park. The event features a lineup of livestock judging and competition, live music, a carnival and various family-friendly events.

Daily children’s activities

  • Camel rides: 9 a.m.-9 p.m.

  • Fun on the farm: 10 a.m.-7 p.m.

  • Kids tractor pull: 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m. 3 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 6 p.m.

  • Petting zoo: 9 a.m.-9 p.m.

  • Pig races: 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m.

  • Pony rides: 9 a.m.-9 p.m.

Rodeo events

Riders compete in five three-day series brackets for cash prizes and a chance to make it to the Super Shootout championship round. The competition includes traditional rodeo events, such as bareback horse riding, barrel racing, bull riding, saddle bronco riding, steer wrestling and cattle roping.

Entrance gate security prohibits the following items:

  • Air horns

  • Banners with offensive language or advertising

  • Beach balls

  • Firearms

  • Footballs

  • Frisbees

  • Hoverboards

  • Laser pointers

  • Remotely controlled devices, including air drones

  • Selfie sticks

  • Weapons

  • Whistles

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has three first-aid stations:

  • NRG Center Room 109 and Hall C lobby

  • The front of the NRG Arena and inside the main door, facing the carnival

  • Southeast entrance of NRG stadium

Lost & found: Attendees can report missing items and return found items at NRG Center Room 102B.
