Hays County and the Texas Department of Transportation announced Feb. 9 that demolition of the Yarrington Road bridge over I-35 between San Marcos and Kyle has been completed two days ahead of schedule.
The demolition was originally planned to force the closure of the main lanes of I-35 from Feb. 7-11. The main lanes will not be closed Tuesday or Wednesday night because the project was completed ahead of schedule.
TxDOT has been making improvements to the Yarrington Road intersection as part of Hays County’s Pass-Through Financing Program with the state. The $12.2 million project will add a widened bridge across I-35 with northbound and southbound turnarounds as well as widened frontage roads.
TxDOT officials expect the project to be complete in mid-2016.
