Big decisions made in 2015

• The council continued progress on architectural work for new city facilities for the public works and police departments.

• Council annexed property at the end of Country White Lane.

• There was a comprehensive review and salary increases for staff.

• The city acquired property at the end of Reese Drive for conservation and trail-connection uses.

Top issues for 2016

• The council will vote on how to fully fund the remaining work needed to complete design and construction of proposed new public works and police facilities.

• The council will focus on comprehensive water planning for the city.

• Council will continue to work on the long-range financial planning for the city, including how to best balance entitlements and conservation rebates.

• The city will aim to support retail and community activities in Sunset Valley, such as the farmers market, the Violet Crown Trail, The Brodie Homestead special events facility, and new retailers including Dallas’ Cane Rosso pizza and the first brick-and-mortar location of food truck Cow Tipping Creamery, opening this spring.

Terms and compensation

Council members serve two-year terms.
