Hutto ISD officials appointed two principals during a regular board meeting Jan. 14.
Gaye Rosser’s appointment as interim principal of Hutto Elementary was permanently approved, and Gregory Nestle was chosen as principal of the new Howard Norman Elementary School, which is scheduled to open this fall.
Rosser has served as interim principal at Hutto Elementary since the Fall 2015 semester and started her career with Hutto ISD in 2000. Since then, she worked as a 7th grade English language arts teacher, team leader and department chair. She was also designated as a teacher leader—now an instructional specialist—during her nine years at Hutto Middle School.
“That's what led me into administration; I decided I wanted to impact more students across a campus, as well as more adults,” Rosser said.

Nestle currently works as an assistant principal at Hutto High School and began his Hutto ISD career in 2009 teaching 4th and 5th graders at Nadine Johnson Elementary. He later moved to Farley Middle School teaching 7th grade before moving to Hutto High School.
“I look forward to serving the children and parents at Howard Norman Elementary School and building strong community relationships through our school. I would like to invite all parents to come to our new campus, once it is complete, so I can show you all of the wonderful tools and resources we will have,” Nestle said.
Before his educational career began, Nestle served 20 years in the U.S. Army. The school’s namesake, Howard Norman, served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was later listed as Missing In Action.
Norman Elementary will be Hutto’s sixth elementary campus, and construction plans for the $18.8 million project are on track in anticipation of a July 1 completion date and opening for the 2016-17 school year.
