City planners are again asking for resident participation in its ONE McKinney 2040 Comprehensive Plan Update. Residents and stakeholders are invited to attend a community workshop at 6 p.m., Jan. 21 at the McKinney Senior Recreation Center, 1400 S. College St., for the 10-year update to the city’s comprehensive plan. “Last year, we held a series of input meetings focused on soliciting thoughts and ideas from the public relating to land uses, parks, transportation, economic vitality and other quality of life issues that are incorporated into the city’s Comprehensive Plan,” said Michael Quint, executive director of development services, in a news release. “This year, the city will be synthesizing the feedback gathered from residents, property and business owners, as well as from the City Council, in order to create a single, unified vision for what McKinney hopes to become.” The plan acts as a guide for the growth and development of the city. The priorities identified within the plan will influence where new homes, businesses and amenities are built in McKinney. This workshop allows residents to review and offer feedback on several potential growth scenarios for development and influence the creation of the final preferred land use scenario for McKinney.
