Construction of Howard Norman Elementary is back on schedule after heavy rainfall during the summer slightly delayed construction on the district’s sixth elementary school.
Most of the exterior work—including sidewalks and parking lots—has been completed. Crews are installing plumbing and electrical systems and the next phase of construction will include completing the facade of the building, HISD Public Information Officer Todd Robison said.
Thomas Bloxham, executive director of facilities and operations for HISD, said he expects to obtain a certificate of occupancy for the building by June.
“I am very pleased with the progress of the project, and everything has gone as planned with the exception of all the rain,” Bloxham said.
The project was approved by voters in 2008 and is expected to cost close to $19 million.
