Following its June 6 opening, El Gaucho Winery founder Bennett Sewell sought to accommodate his customers with more than just wine.

In December he added an outdoor fire pit, making the scenic vistas of the winery site more comfortable in the winter months, and plans to build a bocce court in the spring. Bennett tweaked El Gaucho’s opening hours from the late afternoon to noon to allow for lunchtime guests.

“People wanted a nice glass of wine for lunch, and parents needed to feed their hungry kids,” he said.

The winery specializes in wines produced from grapes Bennett and his wife, Eugenia, grow in two vineyards in her native Argentina.

Bennett said he will add monthly dinner events in January with food and wine pairings—such as steak and a malbec wine—in the new outdoor cooking and fire pit area.
