Education Year in Review
Round Rock ISD
- The board of trustees adopted a Freeport Tax exemption in June. Before the exemption, RRISD applied the tax to companies with inventory that was brought into Texas for manufacturing and exported out of the state within 175 days.
- On Dec. 8, RRISD announced its direct-to-college enrollment for the class of 2015 increased 1 percent compared with the class of 2014.
- On Dec. 17, trustees approved a name and attendance boundaries for RRISD’s 34th elementary school: Joe Lee Johnson Elementary School.
Pflugerville ISD
- In April, PfISD approved a pay increase for all district staff as well as about 70 new positions. Pay raises were based on pay rate, tenure and other factors.
- The district broke ground on High School No. 4 in August. The high school is located on a 150-acre tract of land near Lake Pflugerville.
- The district broke ground off Pecan Street on the new Timmerman Elementary School and districtwide stadium Nov. 10. The elementary campus will replace the current
Timmerman site.
Hutto ISD
- In April, the district began construction on its sixth elementary campus, Norman Elementary School. The 92,000-square-foot facility is located in the Riverwalk community in Hutto.
- In May, HISD approved a high school equivalency program. The program provides an alternative for students at risk of dropping out of high school.
- The Hutto ISD Police Department was officially established Nov. 5, and Chief Rick Stone was sworn in Nov. 12 at a school board meeting. The department is expected to be fully operational by July, according to district documents.
