Big decisions made in 2015
Comprehensive Master Plan Update/Our Bee Cave 2037 The city launched the process of updating its comprehensive master plan in 2015 that will provide guidance for its projected growth in 2037, the 50th anniversary of the Bee Cave’s incorporation as a municipality. Residents and business owners have been meeting and providing input to consultants on how they want to see long-range development occur in the future.
Annexation The city annexed approximately 480 acres of land into its corporate limits. As the majority of the newly annexed land is undeveloped, future development will be guided by the Future Land Use Map, which is being revised as part of Bee Cave’s comprehensive master plan update.
Purchase of additional land The city decided to purchase approximately 22 acres of undeveloped land located between Bee Cave Parkway and Hwy. 71, next to the Hill Country Indoor sports complex currently under construction. The city has no immediate plans for how this land will be used; however, public ownership of this land will allow city leaders the flexibility for providing future city services as the area’s population continues to grow.
Electronic devices ordinance The city joined with other adjacent municipalities in adopting an ordinance prohibiting the use of portable electronic devices while operating a motor vehicle or bicycle within city limits.
Top issue for 2016
Area traffic congestion Bee Cave joined TXDOT, Commissioner Gerald Daugherty and Lakeway elected officials to promote an RR 620 corridor study focusing on the stretch of RR 620 between Bee Cave and Hwy. 183. A presentation on the preliminary designs for short-term and long-term improvements will be presented to City Council in January.
