1. East Whitestone Boulevard
East Whitestone Boulevard[/caption]On Nov. 13 eastbound traffic on East Whitestone Boulevard was moved to new lanes to the north of the roadway as part of a project at the intersection of East Whitestone Boulevard and Parmer Lane/Ronald Reagan Boulevard in Cedar Park. The project is converting the area into a partial continuous-flow intersection and widening Whitestone Boulevard from four to six lanes between Market Street and CR 175/Sam Bass Road. The project will lengthen turn lanes at the road’s intersections with Toro Grande Drive as well as Raley and Sam Bass roads. The project was originally scheduled to wrap up in winter 2015 but was delayed by weather as well as design needs and utility conflicts. As of Dec. 7 the project was listed as 50 percent complete. 2. Old FM 2243 widening
Work is expected to begin Jan. 4 on a project to widen Old FM 2243 from two to five lanes, including a center-turn lane, between US 183 and just past North Lakeline Boulevard in Leander. The project will include relocations of utility lines and conversion of adjacent drainage ditches to storm sewers under the new lanes. Crews will add turn lanes for businesses and cross streets. The city of Leander and Williamson County are both funding the 18-month project. Timeline: Jan. 4, 2016-spring 2017 Cost: $24 million (estimated) Funding sources: city of Leander, Williamson County (50 percent or up to $9.15 million)
3. Cypress Creek Road/Lakeline Boulevard turn lanes
Some Cedar Park business entrances are occasionally closed during a project at the intersection of Cypress Creek Road and Lakeline Boulevard, where crews are extending dual left-turn lanes on north- and southbound Lakeline Boulevard. Construction also includes widening existing left- and right-turn lanes and adding medians and two new right-turn lanes each on east- and westbound Cypress Creek Road. 4. Little Elm Trail gaps
Work could begin in December on a project to fill in two gaps of Little Elm Trail. The project will finish Little Elm Trail as a four-lane road that connects Bell and Lakeline boulevards. Timeline: December-November 2016 Cost: $7.06 million Funding sources: city of Cedar Park ($2.98 million); Cedar Park Community Development Corporation, also known as the 4B Board ($550,000); Williamson County ($3.53 million)
5. North Bagdad Road widening
Leander City Council plans to solicit bids by the end of January for a project to widen Bagdad Road from two to five lanes between Old FM 2243 and CR 280. Work could begin by spring. Timeline: spring 2016-fall 2017 Cost: $13 million (estimated) Funding sources: city of Leander, Williamson County (50 percent or up to $4.9 million)
