Several major lane closures are planned in the Cy-Fair area for the weekend of Nov. 6. Crews are beginning to work on widening Hwy. 290 mainlanes between FM 529 and Senate Avenue around the Betlway 8 interchange. Project G (from FM 529 to W. Little York Road)
  • Hwy. 290 eastbound mainlanes from FM 529 to Senate Avenue will be closed continuously from 6 a.m. Nov. 8 through 5 a.m. Nov. 9. Drivers will be detoured to the frontage road at the FM 529 exit and can reenter the freeway past Senate Avenue.
  • Hwy. 290 eastbound exits to the Sam Houston Tollway northbound and southbound will be closed during this same time period. Drivers will be detoured to the frontage road at the FM 529 exit and turn left or right on Beltway 8 to access the tollway. Drivers going northbound will use the Beltway 8 frontage road entrance past Philippine Street, while drivers going southbound will use the entrance ramp past W. Little York.
  • The Hwy. 290 eastbound entrance ramp past Senate will be closed beginning 5 a.m. Nov. 9. Drivers will need to use the entrance ramp past Gessner Road. The entrance ramp will reopen later next year when new collector-distributor lanes are completed. Collector-distributor lanes are being constructed parallel to mainlanes and will allow for improved access to Hwy. 290 from FM 529 and Senate Avenue.
Project C-1 (from Mueschke to Mason roads) Crews will be installing underground drainage boxes at the Mason Road exit ramp.
  • The Hwy. 290 eastbound exit ramp to Mason Road will be closed continuously from 8 p.m. Nov. 6 through 5 a.m. Nov. 9. Drivers will be detoured to the Mueschke exit.
In addition to these closures, portions of Hwy. 290 will be closed near the Grand Parkway as the contractor begins installing signs.
  • Hwy. 290 westbound mainlanes from Fairfield to Bauer Road will be closed 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Nov. 8. Drivers will be detoured to the frontage road.
Future closures
  • Hwy. 290 westbound mainlanes from Gessner to Jones roads will be closed Nov. 13-16, excluding Saturday during the day. Drivers will be detoured to the frontage road at the Gessner exit and can reenter the freeway past Jones Road.
  • Hwy. 290 westbound exits to the Sam Houston Tollway northbound and southbound will be closed. Drivers will be detoured to the frontage road at the Gessner exit and turn left or right on Beltway 8 to access the tollway north or southbound. Drivers going northbound will use the Beltway 8 frontage road entrance past Philippine Street, while drivers going southbound will use the entrance ramp past W. Little York Road.
