The first batch of monthly sampler boxes from Coterie Market went out in September.
Founder Chelsea Staires Sun launched the online business three years ago but is now expanding with a monthly subscription box that showcases locally made products.
"I kind of always wanted to do a subscription box, it was something I have toyed with over the years since I first opened," Sun said. "I really try hard to make sure the assortment in the box is useful."
Sun's mission is to make locally made products more accessible to purchase, she said. When she first opened, the only way to find such products were to visit local farmers' markets, which is not always convenient, she said.
"Hopefully it's a way for folks to discover Austin-made products and ... folks realizing how much Austin stuff is made here makes my day," Sun said. "I live for those moments, I love it. It's what I'm all about. There really is so much amazing product made here and so much of it is truly world-class."
Those who order the box will receive an exclusive product from a local chef in each monthly delivery. Sun said she enjoys offering the feature to help bring something unique to the monthly box as well as support local chefs.
