In September, Cedar Park City Council and Leander City Council approved new operating budgets and lower property tax rates for fiscal year 2015-16.

On Sept. 17, Cedar Park City Council approved a final fiscal year 2015-16 property tax rate of $0.4795 per $100 of property value.


The rate is about $0.0055 lower than the FY 2014-15 property tax rate of $0.485.


City Council also approved a FY 2015-16 operating budget. The budget projects about $42.6 million in city revenue. Revenue includes about $15.3 million from property taxes, about $11 million from sales taxes, and the remainder from city fees such as franchise and service fees.


Cedar Park’s FY 2015-16 budget projects spending a total of $42.6 million, including about $22.2 million, or 52.11 percent, for public safety departments such as police and fire. The budget also allots about $8.8 million, or 20.66 percent, for public works and development.


Cedar Park’s FY 2015-16 funding proportions are roughly the same as the FY 2014-15 budget, which projected revenue and expenditures of about $39.1 million each.



Leander


On Sept. 21, Leander City Council approved a final FY 2015-16 property tax rate of $0.63292 per $100 of assessed property value.


The rate is $0.02 lower than the FY 2014-15 property tax rate of $0.65292.


City Council also approved a
FY 2015-16 operating budget. The budget projects about $26.3 million in city revenue. Projected revenue includes about $12 million from property taxes, about $3.7 million from sales taxes, and the remainder from city fees such as franchise and service fees.


Leander’s FY 2015-16 budget projects spending a total of about $26.2 million, including about $11.5 million, or 43.89 percent, for public safety departments such as police and fire.


The budget also allots about $5 million, or about 19 percent, for public works.
