The board of trustees approved rezoning parameters and a timeline at its Sept. 28 meeting. Trustees said new growth and housing developments in the north zones of CISD now require the board and administration to consider new attendance zones to relieve over crowding at Walnut Grove Elementary and Johnson Elementary schools. The overcrowding at these two campuses coincides with a lower enrollment in the Old Union Elementary School zone. Any changes to the elementary zones could have an impact on the feeder system to date. The board will also look at feeding Carroll Elementary School into one intermediate school. Its students are currently split between Eubanks Intermediate School and Durham Intermediate School. On Oct. 19 administration will present preliminary rezoning options to the board with a public meeting following in November. The final vote on rezoning will occur Dec. 14.
