On Sept. 3, Leander City Council voted to consider a fiscal year 2015-16 property tax rate of $0.63292 per $100 of assessed value. The rate is $0.02637 lower than the FY 2014-15 rate of $0.65929.
On Aug. 27, Cedar Park City Council voted to consider a FY 2015-16 property rate of $0.48 per $100 of assessed value. The rate is $0.005 lower than the FY 2014-15 rate of $0.485.
Proposed budgets
Cedar Park’s proposed FY 2015-16 budget projects revenue of about $42.6 million to support the city’s general operating expenses of about $42.6 million. The city’s FY 2014-15 budget projected revenue of about $39.1 million to support operating expenses of about $39.1 million.
Leander’s proposed FY 2015-16 budget projects total revenue of about $26.3 million to support the city’s general operating expenses of about $26.2 million. The city’s FY 2014-15 budget projected revenue of about $22.8 million to support operating expenses of about $22.5 million.
Both cities’ operating costs are funded with revenue from sales taxes and property taxes as well as city fees, fines and other sources. Budgets and revenue for public utilities are kept separate from general operating budgets.
