Pflugerville residents evaluate city services Pflugerville’s first resident survey since 2012 was conducted this spring and indicated infrastructure-related services are top of mind for many citizens. Kansas-based research firm ETC Institute polled nearly 700 residents about the quality of city services and presented results at a June 23 City Council meeting. Residents reported generally high satisfaction rates and indicated the biggest issues the city will face in coming years are growth management, transportation planning and water/wastewater services, according to the ETC report. ETC Vice President Ron Vine said results from this kind of survey could be used to set city priorities, advise budget decisions and help measure the success of city initiatives. Vine said resident satisfaction increased in many areas since 2012, which shows the city is on the right track. “The results were generally higher than what we see in smaller communities [of this size] as far as satisfaction levels,” he said. “I think the trending up is indicative that the council and city staff focused in on the areas that people said were important to them in 2012.” Pflugerville Public Information Officer Terri Waggoner said the city’s downtown vision plan released in March was partly the result of some residents indicating low satisfaction with downtown development in 2012. Although the majority of Pflugerville residents said they were satisfied with city services, quality of life and safety, Mayor Pro Tem Wayne Cooper said staff and officials can always work to improve those aspects. “I think everything is an area of improvement. Until we hit 100 percent approval, we can always do better,” he said.
